About the position

As a Structural Engineer 4 specializing in Transmission Line projects at Black & Veatch, you will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of engineering solutions that meet the needs of our clients. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that contribute to sustainable infrastructure development. You will be responsible for supporting design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes, which includes collecting and assimilating data for engineering work, performing research, and preparing calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards. Your recommendations for equipment and materials will be vital, and you will need to work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements. In this role, you may also provide guidance to engineering team members, ensuring that positive client relations are maintained through effective communication with the project team. You will have the chance to assist with business development activities and function as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, you will apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses to solve complex problems, while also expanding your knowledge and skill set in your area of discipline. As part of the BV Operations team, your skills will be aligned with projects that support various market sectors, including Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. Responsibilities

  • Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.
  • Collect and assimilate data for engineering work.
  • Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
  • Develop recommendations for equipment and materials.
  • Work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
  • Maintain positive client relations through effective communication with the project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Professional registration or licensure in designated home office country, or in active pursuit of such registration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
  • Previous client interaction experience with solid relationship-building abilities.
  • Proven strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to think quickly at the job site and in front of customer personnel.
  • Good listening skills, customer focused, priority setting, delegation, teamwork and team building skills.
