About the position

As a Structural Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of transmission line projects. This position offers the opportunity to support design engineering efforts, collect and analyze data, and perform research to prepare calculations that adhere to both Black & Veatch and industry standards. You will be responsible for developing recommendations for equipment and materials while ensuring that all work is completed within budget, project schedules, and quality requirements. Additionally, you may provide guidance to other engineering team members and maintain positive client relations through effective communication with the project team. This role may also involve assisting with business development activities and functioning as a technical specialist or in a lead role, applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses with minimal supervision. In this position, you will be expected to continuously learn and apply independent knowledge regarding departmental design guides, standards, and applicable engineering codes. You will prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection. You will manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements while planning and conducting independent evaluations of engineering techniques and procedures. Your role will also involve coordinating with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects and assisting in identifying key client interests and drivers. As part of a collaborative team, you will be engaged in exciting projects that span various market sectors, including Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. Responsibilities

  • Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.
  • Collect and assimilate data for engineering work.
  • Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
  • Develop recommendations for equipment and materials.
  • Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
  • Maintain positive client relations through effective communication with the project team.
  • Assist with business development activities.
  • Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role.
  • Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Professional registration or licensure in designated home office country, or in active pursuit of such registration.
  • Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
