About the position

As a Structural Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will play a pivotal role in leading and performing engineering analysis and design for a variety of structures, particularly within industrial settings. This position offers the opportunity to develop project budgets and schedules while fostering relationships with clients at power generating facilities. You will be part of a dynamic team that supports multiple market sectors, including Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. Your contributions will not only focus on infrastructure growth and development but also on your individual professional development, as you engage in exciting projects that range from small community improvements to large-scale mega projects. In this role, you will execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of industrial facilities and other complex structures. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with process and systems engineers on multi-disciplinary design projects, ensuring effective communication and careful planning. You will supervise Structural Engineers and Technicians, both domestically and internationally, overseeing the preparation of structural drawing packages, calculations, and specifications. This position also involves occasional travel to client sites, estimated at up to 10%, to collaborate with project stakeholders during project development. You will also handle project administrative tasks such as preparing design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, managing project changes, and implementing Black & Veatch's Quality Control requirements. As a leader, you will guide a team in executing moderately complex projects with construction values of up to $100 million, providing technical guidance and direction on design standards, engineering codes, and company policies.
