About the position

The Engineer at Larson Design Group (LDG) serves as a technical leader within the organization, requiring a Professional Engineer (PE) license and relevant work experience. This role is pivotal in coordinating overall design activities and project submission schedules, ensuring that all final products meet the technical requirements and goals set by clients. The Engineer will engage in various responsibilities, including independent planning and design tasks, reviewing the work of others, preparing construction documents, and successfully delivering projects to completion. The position demands experience with technically complex projects and a thorough understanding of applicable codes and standards related to project design. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Engineer will maintain collaborative inter-departmental and cross-functional working relationships with project team members. This includes performing initial Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) reviews of project submissions and assisting senior management in developing schedules, technical proposals, and labor hour estimates. The Engineer will work closely with project teams to effectively describe and deliver the scope of work, promoting and supporting quality assurance and quality control processes to enhance the quality of deliverables and minimize design errors and omissions. The role also involves performing and checking design calculations, preparing technical specifications, and developing cost estimates. The Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining design budgets for routine scopes of work, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent planning and design tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant Engineering field from an ABET-accredited school or related field of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years job-related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the design and development process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough knowledge of A/E/S industry and ability to quickly review, understand, and resolve complex design and construction-related issues.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong desire to expand knowledge base and undertake new responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team.
