About the position

The Structural Engineer - Concrete position is a key role within a highly respected, industry-leading precast concrete manufacturer located in Kansas City. This company operates multiple sites and is seeking a Senior Design/Structural Engineer who is eager for career growth and advancement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, particularly in precast concrete, and will be responsible for the design of complex projects while managing the engineering phase. This role involves interfacing with various teams including Project Management, Division, Engineering, and the design team, as well as collaborating with General Contractors. The candidate will also have the opportunity to mentor and lead less experienced engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. In this position, the engineer will develop project schedules for the engineering department and provide training, guidance, and motivation to employees to enhance their professional skills. The responsibilities include generating designs and drawings for precast concrete systems based on construction documents, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and ensuring effective communication with sales, estimating, project management, and operations. The engineer will also be responsible for completing submittals and approvals of designs, supplying necessary details for fabrication, and addressing any conflicts or issues that arise during the project lifecycle. Additionally, the role requires supporting the Sales Department with technical assistance and ensuring that field inspections are performed, including writing Observation Reports and tracking field repairs. The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering Manager to generate monthly revenue reports and review costs as necessary. Proficiency in computer software such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit, and other Precast/Prestress Design software is essential for this role. Responsibilities

  • Develop project schedules for the engineering department.
  • Provide employees with proper training, guidance, and motivation for professional skill development.
  • Generate designs and drawings for the precast concrete system from construction documents.
  • Manage the design and drafting of several projects simultaneously.
  • Interface with sales, estimating, project management, and operations to generate an engineering package.
  • Complete submittals and approvals of designs, supplying plant with details for fabrication.
  • Supply erector with plans and information for construction, resolving conflicts and issues as they arise.
  • Support the Sales Department by providing technical assistance.
  • Ensure field inspections on projects are performed, including writing Observation Reports and tracking field repairs.
  • Work with the Engineering Manager to generate monthly revenue reports and review costs.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri, or able to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 2 years structural/precast concrete experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in computer software including Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit, and other Precast/Prestress Design software.
