The Structural Engineer - Concrete position is a key role within a highly respected, industry-leading precast concrete manufacturer located in Olathe, Kansas. This company is known for its multi-site operations and is seeking a Senior Design/Structural Engineer who is eager for career growth and advancement. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work from one of two locations and will be responsible for the design of complex projects while managing the engineering phase of each project. This includes interfacing with various teams such as Project Management, Division, Engineering, and the design team, as well as collaborating with General Contractors. The role also involves mentoring and leading less experienced engineers to ensure the successful completion of all project tasks. In this position, the engineer will develop project schedules for the engineering department and provide employees with the necessary training, guidance, and motivation to enhance their professional skills. The engineer will be responsible for generating designs and drawings for the precast concrete system based on construction documents and managing the design and drafting of multiple projects simultaneously. The role requires effective communication with sales, estimating, project management, and operations, as well as customers, to produce a comprehensive engineering package. This includes completing submittals and approvals of designs, supplying the plant with fabrication details, providing erectors with construction plans, and resolving any conflicts or issues that may arise during the project lifecycle. Additionally, the engineer will support the Sales Department by offering technical assistance and will ensure that field inspections on projects are conducted, which includes writing Observation Reports and tracking field repairs. The engineer will also collaborate with the Engineering Manager to generate monthly revenue reports and review costs as necessary. Proficiency in computer software such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit, and other Precast/Prestress Design software is essential for this role.
