The Structural Engineer I position at AECOM is an entry-level role focused on supporting the Water, Structures Department in Albuquerque, NM. The role involves applying standard engineering techniques and procedures to design, analyze, rehabilitate, and inspect water infrastructure and ancillary structures. This position is part of AECOM's Graduate Development Program, which aids in technical development and career success for new hires. The expected start date for this position is in January or June 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Design, analyze, rehabilitate, and inspect water infrastructure and ancillary structures.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Exercise judgment in developing work details and making preliminary selections of engineering alternatives.
  • Prepare engineering-related designs, calculations, sketches, visual aids, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred.
  • Academic track with a structural engineering concentration is highly desirable.
  • 1-2 cycles of relevant internship experience in structural design projects is a plus.
  • Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, STAAD, MathCad).
  • Experience or education in reinforced concrete and steel design.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
