About the position

Delta Oaks Group is seeking a Structural Engineer I to perform various structural engineering analysis and design services within the Structural Engineering Department in Raleigh, NC. This entry-level position involves working under the supervision of the Chief Structural Engineer to support structural design and analysis across multiple markets, including commercial and telecommunications sectors.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design utilizing manual calculations and software tools.
• Program in-house tools for analysis, design, calculation, and report automation.
• Provide CAD support for structural design drawings and assist other departments.
• Coordinate with field personnel for structure mapping and inspection projects.
• Prepare engineering reports with recommendations for commercial and telecommunications structures.
• Review jurisdictional and local governing agency requirements for structural analysis and design.
• Communicate with clients on design needs and production deadlines under supervision.
• Review and QA/QC assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution.
• Some engineering experience is preferred, though this is an entry-level position.
• Technical verbal and writing skills, with the ability to read technical literature and engineering plans.
• Familiarity with finite-element software, e.g., RISA 3D.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2012 or later is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Programming experience with Visual Basic for Applications and other object-oriented languages.

Nice-to-haves

• Masters in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
• Engineer in training (EIT) or Engineering Intern EI certification with structural emphasis is preferred.
