About the position

AECOM is currently seeking a talented Structural Engineer II to support our bridge inspection practice in our Conshohocken, PA office. This is a remote position but will also involve a combination of office and field work, performing bridge load rating analysis and hands-on inspection of bridge structures throughout the region. The role will require the use of commercial bridge analysis software for load rating analysis tasks, as well as occasional finite element modeling. Inspection tasks will include hands-on field observation of a variety of structural systems and documentation of defects. This important role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects and a dynamic work environment due to the number, type and size of bridges that make up the vast portfolio of the experienced bridge group this engineer will be joining.

Responsibilities

  • Structural analysis of bridges.
  • Working in the field performing hands-on bridge safety inspections.
  • Field inspection work.
  • Developing load rating calculations and models.
  • Preparing field inspection reports, bridge repair recommendations, and repair schemes.
  • Estimating costs for bridge repairs.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering plus two years of related experience and/or education.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspector Credentials
  • Two to four years of relevant experience in bridge engineering.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate (oral and written) effectively.
