About the position

Professional Project Services Inc. has upcoming opportunity for Structural Engineer III (Direct Hire) position at our office in Knoxville, TN. Professional Project Services, Inc. (Pro2Serve) is a nationally-recognized technical and engineering services firm dedicated to providing critical infrastructure engineering services in support of our Nation's security. Using a disciplined systems engineering approach that is supported by an innovative software toolset, Pro2Serve provides solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our government and private clients. We support the defense, energy, and science markets through responsive, cost-effective execution of critical security, facilities and infrastructure, nuclear defense and nonproliferation, and environmental projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct various structural analyses including concrete, steel and stainless steel.
  • Prepare design and analysis calculations.
  • Design and analyze whole building designs for new facilities and existing building modifications.
  • Support utility and process equipment support fixtures/structures platforms, walk-ways, stairs and fixed ladders.
  • Design crane and hoist support systems, storage racks, various foundation systems and seismic qualification of equipment.
  • Provide construction support for some projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in either Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or Structural Engineering required.
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive Structural Engineering experience.
  • Natural Phenomena Hazard Evaluation (NPH) experience is a plus.
  • P.E. License preferred; NCEES record a plus.
  • Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Manual and ASCE 8 required.
  • Working knowledge of nuclear codes, US Army Corps of Engineers and United Facilities Criteria (UFC) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of structural modeling programs (STADD, GT Strudl, etc.).
  • Experience with MathCAD and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation and/or Revit preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Good level of verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Experience with nuclear codes and US Army Corps of Engineers.
