About the position

The Structural Engineer in Training position involves assisting in the design and analysis of solar racking structures, including ground mounts and carports. The role focuses on preparing drawings and specifications for structural projects while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a reputable engineering firm that prioritizes innovative structural solutions and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and analyzing solar racking structures, including ground mounts and carports.
  • Prepare drawings and specifications for structural projects, considering materials, environmental conditions, and design requirements.
  • Support stability assessments to ensure structures withstand wind, seismic activity, and snow loads.
  • Collaborate with engineers and drafters to develop safe and efficient structural designs.
  • Conduct on-site testing for preliminary soil capacity and assist in inspecting existing structures to identify issues or recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
  • On track to pass the Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Revu Bluebeam is a plus.
