About the position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineer Intern for the summer of 2025. This internship offers an opportunity to work within the Infrastructure Design Department, focusing on temporary works and collaborating with construction teams to ensure project success. The intern will gain hands-on experience in structural design and engineering, contributing to various infrastructure projects while developing professional skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations and structural designs for temporary works including erection and demolition planning, formwork/falsework design, support of excavation systems, temporary bridges and crane trestles, heavy crane lift planning, Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques, personnel access and fall protection systems, marine engineering, evaluation of existing structures for construction loads.
  • Ensure accuracy of the design drawings.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil or Architectural Engineering (with Structural emphasis) from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred.
  • Available to work full-time during the 2025 summer.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with basic structural analysis software and engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MathCAD, Navisworks, SAP2000, RISA-3D.
  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with structural analysis software and engineering design software.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a related field.
