About the position

As an entry-level Structural Design Engineer at Kiewit, you will join a dynamic team focused on innovative design engineering to support the construction process. Your role will involve conceptual design brainstorming, structural calculations, plan development, and task scheduling to meet client needs while ensuring safety for construction crews.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of designs for assigned structures, including research, system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation.
  • Apply department and industry standards when preparing calculations, project drawings, and project specifications.
  • Incorporate the requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract and customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to meet project goals.
  • Research new markets and adapt current processes and workflows to execute project deliverables successfully.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to address structural-related issues or concerns.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets, including staffing needs, for project management and department management.
  • Support department managers in achieving performance goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering program (with a Structural focus) from an ABET accredited four-year program, with some master's coursework preferred.
  • 0-2 years' experience in Structural design engineering in the Power/Industrial industry preferred.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
  • Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations.
  • Knowledgeable in engineering software, specifically SAP2000, SAFE, SpMats, and MathCAD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Power/Industrial industry.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
