About the position

The Structural Engineer III position at CRB involves overseeing the discipline and managing the budget for small to medium projects of limited complexity. This role requires coordination with various stakeholders, including internal and external architects and engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, and vendors. The engineer is expected to manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities, and direct the work of others effectively. The position may involve working independently or under the guidance of a Lead Engineer or Project Manager, and the engineer may serve as the engineer of record for certain projects. A solid understanding of structural engineering principles, budget management, and project execution is essential for success in this role. Additionally, the engineer may be responsible for directing engineering support staff, including designers, throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with client and external partners as required.
  • Plan and direct work while managing a project budget from a discipline design perspective on small projects of limited complexity.
  • Support proposal development under the supervision of a lead or senior engineer.
  • Conduct and lead field surveys of existing conditions and support field reporting.
  • Identify basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
  • Develop internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.
  • Create construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity with minimal oversight.
  • Lead squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity and drive overall project quality.
  • Provide mentorship to discipline Engineer I and/or Designer I and II.
  • Lead intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from lead or Senior Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage project budgets and timelines effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations in Missouri.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
