About the position
The Structural Engineer, P.E. - Forensics position at EFI Global involves investigating structural failures and providing expert opinions on complex engineering assignments. This remote role requires expertise in structural damage assessment and failure analysis across various types of structures, including commercial, residential, and industrial. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively in a supportive environment, leveraging their engineering knowledge to deliver comprehensive analyses and contribute to the company's profitability.
Responsibilities
- Determine the origin and cause, and extent of structural failures including roof damage, water intrusion, post-fire damage, and storm damage assessments.
- Conduct surveys of losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings.
- Investigate and assess damages due to failures and determine the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
- Analyze and document the failure analysis and causation of failures.
- Collaborate with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.
- Serve as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects.
Requirements
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required, with preference for multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.
