About the position

The Structural Engineer - Project Manager at Giles Flythe Engineers, Inc. is responsible for assisting property owners with building and site improvements through forensic site inspections, technical reports, and repair/construction design. The role involves performing structural assessments, completing evaluations and reports, and managing both residential and commercial structural design projects. Effective communication with clients and collaboration within a team are essential aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist property owners in solving problems related to building and site improvements.
  • Conduct forensic site inspections and structural assessments of existing structures.
  • Complete forensic structural engineering evaluations and reports.
  • Perform residential and commercial structural design.
  • Manage construction administration projects.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and architects in writing and verbally.
  • Travel to various inspection sites for assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program, preferably with a structural engineering focus.
  • Minimum of five years of structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Proven technical writing and report writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills for daily client interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, basements, and roofs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD.
  • Valid Driver's license with a good driving record.
