About the position

As an Engineer on our Rail team at Olsson, you will play a crucial role in providing basic project design through CAD drafting. Your responsibilities will include instructing drafters on how to create accurate drawings of designs and preparing project schedules for various projects involving railroad bridges and supporting structures. This position will also require you to perform research, write technical reports, and travel to job sites for observation to ensure project specifications are met. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on Class I Railroad structures projects and will be expected to work closely with clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Responsibilities

  • Provide basic project design through CAD drafting.
  • Instruct drafters on how to create drawings of designs.
  • Prepare project schedules for projects involving railroad bridges and supporting structures.
  • Perform research and write technical reports.
  • Travel to job sites for observation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must obtain Engineer Intern (EI) certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience working with Railroad Structures.
  • Experience supporting railroad projects and clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Dependable actions and honest communication in a team environment.
  • Ability to leverage software for modeling, calculation, automation, and rapid drafting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Microstation, Risa 3D analysis, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Survey and/or structure design background.
  • Applicable experience coordinating with other railroad engineering disciplines.
