About the position

Hatch is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Structural team in Tampa, FL. This role involves participating in a wide range of projects related to civil foundations and structural steel design, including site investigations and finite element modeling for both planning and detailed engineering phases. The position is part of a dynamic team committed to world-class project delivery and innovative solutions in the engineering space.

Responsibilities

  • Performs specific engineering studies, engineering calculations, and other design analyses using industry software.
  • Evaluates the work of technical staff and provides feedback based on client needs and approves the discipline and layout design criteria documents.
  • Establishes budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules related to structural engineering scope.
  • Leads in the development of technical documentation, specifications, drawings, requisitions, proposals, and presentations to clients.
  • Assists in the preparation and development of project-specific procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer, P.E. License is required.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Broad knowledge of applying structural engineering practices to plant constructability, construction methods, and materials.
  • Proficient with building and design codes (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC etc.) and the use of Staad Pro or similar structural analysis software.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CADD applications, such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to lead and work with engineering staff at all levels.
  • Multidisciplinary engineering knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey project technical information to project managers, clients, and peers.
  • Organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others ensuring the quality of deliverables.
  • Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent safety awareness.
