About the position

KGS Group is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Structural department in our Seattle office. In this role, you will manage the structural design of multi-discipline projects from the proposal stage through to completion. This includes the establishment and maintenance of budgets and schedules, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints. You will be responsible for providing structural design for a variety of projects, including small to large commercial, hydroelectric, and industrial projects. Working collaboratively within a team environment, you will prepare tender and construction documents or reports, as well as technical reports that detail the findings and recommendations of your work. As a senior member of our structural team, you will also take on a mentorship role, guiding junior staff and managing support personnel as required. Responsibilities

  • Manage structural design of multi-discipline projects from proposal stage to completion.
  • Establish and maintain budgets and schedules for projects.
  • Provide structural design for small to large commercial, hydroelectric, and industrial projects.
  • Prepare tender and construction documents or reports.
  • Prepare technical reports detailing project findings and recommendations.
  • Mentor junior staff and manage support personnel as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structural design from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering with demonstrated technical and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with vibration and dynamic analysis of concrete and steel structures using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Software such as SAP2000, ANSYS, and/or RISA.
  • Must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Washington and eligible for registration in California and other states.
  • Previous consulting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hydroelectric generation facilities would be an asset.
  • Ability to adapt to and meet the challenges of a variety of different projects from clients in many different industries.
