About the position

RESPEC is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our engineering team in Denver, Colorado. This role will support the growing Infrastructure business unit, collaborating across multiple offices to design innovative projects using advanced technologies. The Structural Engineer will be involved in new construction and rehabilitation projects, working closely with architects and other engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with building codes and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural projects as a Structural Project Engineer.
  • Observe structural construction on site.
  • Interpret drawings from architects or other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in design progress meetings.
  • Analyze structures using computer analysis programs.
  • Prepare structural design calculations and related project documentation.
  • Perform structural detailing and editing for the preparation of construction drawings.
  • Perform quality control reviews of designs and project structural drawings.
  • Prepare project communications.
  • Assist with preparation of structural project proposals.
  • Prepare structural technical sections of specifications.
  • Review structural shop drawings and other structural submittals.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with structural coursework emphasis.
  • Professional Engineering registration.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Solid knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Mathcad.
  • Experience with RISA, STAAD, SAP, Enercalc, or similar Structural Analysis Software.
  • Experience with preparing plans, specifications, and design calculations.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and able to take on new tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Detail oriented and well organized with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to learn and advance in technical skills and understanding.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience.
  • Project Management experience and/or Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Experience with review of structural construction.
  • Interest in continued professional development.
  • SE registration a plus.
