The Structural Engineer position at Spherion in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a direct hire opportunity focused on bridge and structural design. The role requires a Professional Civil Engineer registered in Louisiana or eligible for reciprocity, with specialized experience in bridges and other structures. The engineer will work closely with project managers and engineers to deliver high-quality designs that meet client needs, while also having opportunities for growth as a technical expert or project manager.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in overseeing design, coordination, and CADD tasks during bridge project phases.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of design activities and ensure compliance with standards.
• Review calculations, plan submittals, shop drawings, contractor proposals, change orders, and more.
• Actively participate in team efforts to achieve department and company goals.
• Assist with any additional tasks needed to deliver quality results on schedule.

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (advanced degree preferred).
• Registered Professional Civil Engineer in Louisiana or eligibility for reciprocity within 6 months.
• Minimum of 5 years post-PE licensure in bridge and structural design.
• In-depth knowledge of advanced computer software used in the design of concrete and steel structures and bridges.
• Familiarity with highway and bridge design and the associated construction drawings.
• Experience with LADOTD, or similar agency, requirements and standards pertaining to roadway and bridge projects.
