About the position

The Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in modernizing military testing facilities to support innovative technology for the Department of Defense (DoD). This position involves ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes while leading efforts to build, renovate, and adapt facilities for the Navy's ordnance and explosive ordnance disposal solutions. The engineer will utilize their expertise in structural design to enhance the safety and durability of facilities, particularly in energetic manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to build, renovate, and adapt clients' facility portfolio based on changing mission requirements.
  • Complete facility design services and support the review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes.
  • Assess structural vulnerability to blast loads and ensure safety in design.
  • Develop design solutions for structural systems and subsystems across a diverse portfolio of facility types.
  • Support the commissioning of systems through construction.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with structural design in a professional environment.
  • Experience designing and overseeing the construction and renovation of weapons test facilities.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT, SAP 2000, or ETABS.
  • Knowledge of structural compliance within energetic manufacturing environments and local, state, and federal codes.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Professional Engineer License in the state of Maryland.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of directed laboratories energy weapons and supporting infrastructure.
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
