The Structural Engineer position at our engineering consultancy involves a critical role in designing structures that are resilient to both human use and environmental factors. This position is essential for ensuring that the structures we design meet safety and performance standards while also being aesthetically pleasing and functional. The role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them in real-world scenarios, particularly in the industrial sector, which includes pulp & paper, chemical, consumer packaged goods (CPG), food and beverage (F&B), power, and heavy industrial markets. As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for configuring structures and overseeing the production of detailed drawings. This includes selecting appropriate foundation materials and equipment support systems, as well as inspecting construction work to ensure structural soundness. You will prepare comprehensive reports, design criteria, estimates, and drawings, and conduct calculations on pressures, loads, and stresses to ensure that all designs are safe and effective. In addition to technical design work, you will provide technical advice on safe designs and construction practices, obtain necessary planning and building regulations approvals, and liaise with clients, architects, and other engineers throughout the project lifecycle. Monitoring contractor work for structural integrity and administering small sub-contracts will also be part of your responsibilities. You will inspect geotechnical properties and evaluate foundations to ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned with engineering standards. Utilizing computer-aided design technology for simulation purposes will be a key part of your role, allowing you to visualize and test your designs before they are built.
