About the position

As a Structural Engineer at Actalent, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of structural systems using various materials including concrete, steel, masonry, and wood. This role involves collaborating with CAD and BIM departments, ensuring alignment of drawings with other disciplines, and participating in project meetings. You will also handle RFIs, review shop drawings, and conduct site observations, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects primarily located in Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems using concrete, steel, masonry, and wood.
  • Perform slab and floor system design, column design, wall design, and foundation design.
  • Conduct lateral analysis and design.
  • Coordinate with CAD and BIM departments.
  • Ensure drawings are in alignment with other disciplines such as architects and mechanical engineers.
  • Respond to RFIs.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Conduct site observations.
  • Attend project meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience in structural engineering tasks on building projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with shop drawing review.
  • Knowledge of concrete, wood, precast, CAD, steel, BIM, slab, floor system design, column design, wall design, and foundation design.
  • Proficiency in structural design software such as RAM, RISA, TEDDS, and ADAPT.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Architectural Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in structural design and detailing of low-rise, commercial, residential, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
  • Proficiency in design software such as RAM, TEDDS, RISA, and ADAPT is preferred.
