About the position

HDR is searching for a Structural Engineer to join our diverse and talented team of professionals in the Montana Area. This position will involve working on a variety of projects primarily focused on buildings and structures in several key areas, including medical, justice, higher education, commercial, and technology facilities. Additionally, the role will encompass government projects such as national parks, federal facilities, and military installations, as well as municipal public works projects, including water and wastewater treatment, storage and distribution. The engineer will also engage in resources and energy projects, which include power, mining, oil and gas, and solid waste facilities, along with transportation service facilities and transit structures. The responsibilities of this position include leading the structural design of buildings and civil structures, preparing specifications, and producing drawings in collaboration with BIM designers for construction documents. The engineer will also serve projects during construction by conducting site visits, reviewing contractor submittals to ensure they meet design intent, and addressing any construction issues that arise. Participation in or leading assessments of existing structures is also expected, along with active involvement in multi-discipline team meetings, design charettes, client review workshops, and construction meetings. Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design of buildings and civil structures for a variety of project types and construction materials and methods.
  • Prepare specifications and production of drawings (in collaboration with BIM designers) for construction documents.
  • Serve projects during construction by site visits, reviewing contractor submittals to ensure they meet design intent, and addressing construction issues.
  • Participate in or lead assessments of existing structures.
  • Actively participate in multi-discipline team meetings, design charettes, client review workshops, and construction meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Previous structural engineer experience
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or BS degree in Architectural Engineering; Structural emphasis
  • A minimum of 3 years structural engineer experience
