About the position

M2 Engineering LLC is seeking a staff structural engineer with 2-4 years of experience to join their growing team in Chicago. The role involves working closely with architects, owners, and contractors on various projects, including the comprehensive structural design of new buildings, renovations, and structural inspections. The position requires proficiency in structural analysis and design, as well as the preparation of construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Assistance in the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Supervised structural analysis and design using computer software and hand calculations.
• Construction administration and field observation alongside the structural engineer of record.
• Working closely with architectural firms in an integrated design process.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university program (master's degree preferred)
• Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting and/or experience in Revit with the ability to set up construction documents including plans and detail sheets, incorporate markups, and manage project structural drawings.
• Experience in steel and concrete design, with wood and masonry design a plus.
• Familiarity with mixed-use development and existing structures a plus.
• Working knowledge of various engineering software such as Risa 3D, Tekla Tedds, RAM, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to engage in a variety of projects and tasks, and to learn new skills on active projects.
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Eligible to work in the US.
• Desire to approach design from a holistic and multi-disciplinary mindset.
