Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the design of buildings, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and best practices.
  • Perform engineering design for components and connections, focusing on structural integrity and compliance with codes.
  • Utilize 3D finite element modeling for components and structures to enhance design accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare project documentation in both CAD and BIM environments, ensuring clarity and precision in all deliverables.
  • Manage project timelines and team dynamics to ensure successful project completion within budget and schedule constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in the state of Illinois.
  • A minimum of 7 years of diverse project experience in building design with demonstrated professional growth.
  • Experience in precast/prestressed concrete design is a plus.
  • Advanced understanding of structural analysis/design fundamentals and current building/material codes.
  • Proficiency in commercially-available office software (Word, Excel, Adobe/Bluebeam) and engineering software (RAM suite, Risa, TEDDS, LEC Wall).
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new engineering principles and stay updated on code changes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced 3D modeling and drafting software.
  • Familiarity with diaphragm analysis and design.
