About the position
The Structural Fitter position at Lexicon involves crafting precision parts according to blueprints and industry standards, specifically AISC and AWS. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and quality of fabricated components, as well as contributing to the overall success of the team. The position requires working 12-hour shifts from Friday to Sunday, with a focus on teamwork, integrity, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Layout and assemble fabricated parts according to shop drawings using AISC and AWS standards.
- Position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in the shop according to blueprint specifications.
- Locate and mark centerline and reference points onto the workpiece.
- Move parts into position manually or by hoist/overhead crane and prepare for final assembly.
- Adhere to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
- Work overtime as required and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Perform non-essential duties as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent with a certificate from Vo-Tech or Trade school in mechanics.
- Ability to fit most structural steel including beams, columns, braces, and simple frames.
- Must pass Class B welding test including various FCAW and SMAW techniques.
- Excellent math skills are required.
- Ability to pass a tape measure test.
