About the position

The Structural Fitter position at Aerotek involves fitting and fabricating structural components for water towers and storage tanks. The role requires reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, and utilizing flux core welding techniques. The ideal candidate will work primarily with carbon steel and will be responsible for assembling various structural elements while ensuring accuracy and safety in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine material requirements and task specifications.
• Measure, cut, and lay out materials accurately for assembly.
• Fit and tack weld structural components using flux core welding techniques.
• Assemble and fit up platforms, ladders, walkways, and other structural elements for water towers and storage tanks.
• Determine the orientation and degrees for fit-ups.
• Handle carbon steel materials such as channels, I beams, angles, and plates.
• Operate overhead cranes and hand torches as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in structural fitting.
• Proficiency in flux core welding (must pass a 2G flux test).
• Ability to read blueprints and tape measures accurately.
• Experience operating an overhead crane.
• Skilled in using hand torches.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience operating fabrication machines such as rolls, presses, plasmas, and bandsaws.
• Prior experience fitting tanks.
