About the position

The Forensic Structural Engineer role involves a combination of investigative work in the field, office, and laboratory settings to determine the root causes of failures primarily related to the structural elements and building envelope of various structures. This position requires a hands-on approach to engineering, where the engineer will engage in fieldwork, utilize testing facilities, and perform office tasks. The individual will be expected to learn continuously, conduct technical research, and produce comprehensive engineering reports. Unlike typical design roles, this position focuses on investigating failures in building structures, emphasizing the application of physics and engineering principles to real-world scenarios. The engineer will be tasked with going beyond standard codes and regulations to ensure thorough analysis and reporting. Essential functions of the role include completing hands-on failure analysis assignments, documenting facts, finalizing reports, conducting technical research, and applying theoretical knowledge to practical situations. The engineer must consistently adhere to ethical practices and convey complex issues in an understandable manner to non-technical audiences through effective report writing. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and integrity of building structures by identifying and addressing the underlying causes of failures.
