About the position

The Structural Industrial Manufacturing Engineer at Black & Veatch is responsible for leading engineering analysis and design for various structures, particularly in industrial facilities. This role involves developing project budgets and schedules, collaborating with clients, and supervising a team of engineers and technicians. The position emphasizes a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility while contributing to significant infrastructure projects across multiple sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of Industrial facilities and other complex structural facilities.
  • Collaborate with process and systems engineers in the execution of multi-disciplinary design projects, requiring communication and careful planning.
  • Supervise Structural Engineers and Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawing packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Lead larger production teams and serve as the responsible charge for projects.
  • Occasional travel to client sites during project development to collaborate with project stakeholders, estimated travel is up to 10%.
  • Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFI's, and review of contractor submittals.
  • Perform project administrative tasks, including preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, and management of project changes.
  • Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and provide guidance to others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
  • Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country, or in active pursuit of such registration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in highly integrated Industrial and/or Manufacturing projects such as food products, animal feed, and consumer products.
  • Proficiency with non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000.
