We are currently seeking a temporary full-time Structural Ironworker local to the Savannah, Georgia area. This position is expected to last approximately 3-4 months. The Structural Ironworker will be responsible for interpreting structural drawings, performing crane signaling procedures, and aligning and bolting structural steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding into place according to structural drawings. The role also involves understanding and performing proper rigging techniques, directing cranes to move structural steel components and other materials around the construction site, and connecting steel columns, beams, and girders with drift pins to align the holes in the steel with the framework holes. Additionally, the Ironworker will drill and/or ream holes into steel for bolting, number steel according to assembly instructions, unload and safely stack steel on cribbing, and position steel with connecting bars and spud wrenches. The use of plumb bobs, levels, and laser equipment to check alignment and elevations is also required, along with troubleshooting structures to identify and initiate repair of welding defects and identifying and repairing damaged coatings during installation.
