About the position

The Structural Mechanic IV position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation involves performing a variety of structural assembly operations in a team-oriented environment. The role requires independent execution of tasks using appropriate tools and specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer expectations. The mechanic will also assist and instruct other team members, contributing to the development of techniques and skills within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, ensuring compliance with requirements.
  • Use schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings to layout, fabricate, and install parts on aircraft.
  • Coordinate with supervision and inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork and quality specifications.
  • Rivet structural assemblies and parts using various tools, ensuring the ability to remove fasteners without damaging structures.
  • Read work orders and blueprints to determine the sequence of operations and specifications for rivets and materials.
  • Check all work to ensure a defect-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Mentor and train team members in interpreting blueprints and engineering orders, developing methods to resolve production issues.
  • Maintain logs and records related to work performed.
  • Align and assemble parts using jigs and fasteners.
  • Make repairs as per Discrepant Material Tags and perform necessary rework to ensure conformity.
  • Plan and organize workloads to meet or exceed goal hours and schedule expectations.
  • Support Lean Activities and comply with safety and housekeeping policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 years of related structural assembly experience.
  • Experience with Solumnia and Smarteam preferred.
  • Q-stamp preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and related software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in close tolerance work and knowledgeable in the use of special tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use mathematical formulas for dimensional problems.
  • Thorough knowledge in the use of multiple measuring devices within specified tolerances.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in small spaces or restricted areas.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
