About the position

CTL|Thompson, Inc. is seeking a Structural Staff Engineer to join their team in Englewood, Colorado. This full-time position involves working on design projects related to commercial, residential, and municipal structures. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and analyzing structural components and systems, utilizing computer-aided design software to perform engineering analysis and develop construction documents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis on residential, commercial, and municipal structures.
  • Prepare and check structural design calculations, computer models, and plans.
  • Use computer software to draft framing plans, foundation plans, and details.
  • Use relevant software to aid with project analysis.
  • Design structures utilizing steel, timber, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Consider the strength of construction materials and choose which to use appropriately.
  • Perform load tracking on structures.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers and architects to develop coordinated designs.
  • Prepare reports, letters, and plans for clients.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
  • EI designation or ability to obtain it within 6 months for employees who have a qualifying engineering discipline degree.
  • 0-5 years of relative engineering experience.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software in a timely manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of current code requirements.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and understand geological data.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 months of experience in an Engineering Field Technician, Engineering Design, and/or Construction position.
