About the position

The Structural Substation Engineer will support global Grid Infrastructure projects by performing design engineering and analysis of substation projects. This role involves collecting and assimilating data for engineering work, conducting research, preparing calculations, and developing recommendations for equipment and materials while adhering to budget, project schedule, and quality requirements. The engineer may also provide guidance to team members and maintain positive client relations through effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Support global Grid Infrastructure projects performing design engineering and analysis of substation projects.
• Collect and assimilate data for engineering work.
• Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black and Veatch and industry standards.
• Develop recommendations for equipment and materials.
• Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
• Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
• Maintain positive client relations understanding client interests and drivers through effective communication with the project team.
• Assist with business development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with utility-scale projects.
• Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
• Experience with finite element analysis such as RISA or Staad.
• Solid experience using EXCEL or similar spreadsheets and MathCAD design templates.
