About the position

ASRC Federal is seeking a highly motivated Structural Test Engineer to support the ASTROS Contract at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The role involves performing advanced structural analysis on test stands and structures, ensuring safety and compliance, and providing detailed reports to site leadership and customers. The engineer will work closely with the technician team and contribute to the testing of propulsion systems.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments from Senior Engineer or Project Manager and work to completion providing status updates as needed
• Perform advanced structural analysis on the integrity of test fixtures and support structures
• Assess structures for safety, quality, and adherence to regulations, and communicate findings clearly
• Visit Technician team on the test pad to ensure work is progressing as planned
• Serve as part of the Test Team when required
• Develop relationships with the buildup crew to create a strong team environment
• Work independently and communicate progress

Requirements

• Understand and analyze static and dynamic loads including wind, rain, seismic activity, temperature, and traffic
• Familiar with piping, flanges, and other systems related to test hardware
• Write and edit Work Authorizations for technicians
• Provide routine briefings to Senior Engineer, Site Scheduler, Customers, and Program Management
• Assist in supporting senior leadership during test readiness reviews
• Maintain a professional demeanor and possess effective written and verbal communication skills
• Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related field
• 8-10 years of experience
• Technical writing ability
• Experience in engineering design software
• Experience and/or knowledge of the MATLAB programming platform
