About the position
The Structured Cabling/Low Voltage Technician position at BCS involves working with network cabling installations, security systems, access control, and fiber optic cabling. The role requires a senior-level technician with a minimum of three years of experience in commercial and residential low voltage systems. The technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and servicing various low voltage systems while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and service CCTV, Access Control, and burglar alarm systems.
- Run, terminate, and test copper cabling (Cat 5 or Cat 6).
- Mount devices and perform basic AV installations (TV Mounts, Video Walls).
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and operational product manuals.
- Exhibit effective customer service skills by communicating with staff and customers.
- Maintain truck inventory for timely response to customer needs.
- Install IP Security Cameras and Wireless Access Points.
- Configure network equipment such as routers and access points.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial/residential low voltage.
- Experience with Security Alarm Systems and Access Control Panels (1 year required).
- Knowledge of IP networking, including subnets and the OSI model.
- Ability to work off a 20' ladder and in confined spaces.
- Valid Texas Driver License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and FBI background check.
- Proficiency in the English language.

- Preferred experience with programming control systems such as Control4, Savant, URC, RTi, Elan.
