About the position

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full-time Airframe Structures Design Engineer for the Advanced Development Programs (ADP) in Palmdale, California. The role involves applying technical expertise to develop solutions for aircraft structural design problems, including the creation and modification of structural parts and assemblies, and contributing to the testing and validation of designs.

Responsibilities

• Creation and/or modification of primary and secondary structural parts, assemblies, installations, and interface control models/documents.
• Contributing to developing, testing, and validating aircraft structural designs.
• Assisting in creating system requirements, trade studies, statements of work, and test plans.
• Coordination with internal Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), with some interaction with external IPTs and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering technical discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical.
• Experience with 3DX, CATIA V5, Solidworks, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool.
• Experience with structural design.
• Top Secret clearance required to apply.
• Experience with Low Observable Materials.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with 3DX or CATIA V5.
• Experience with metallic and composite design.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with structural analysis for preliminary sizing.
