About the position

Wood's Consulting business is currently recruiting for a Structural Draftsperson to join our Design and Drafting Team in Houston, Texas (Energy Corridor). The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience drafting structures for the Oil & Gas industry, with subsea experience being an asset. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team that supports a variety of clients, projects, and internal business partners by providing project deliverables and design solutions using industry-leading parametric modeling software. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and modifying 3D parametric models of subsea system components such as jumpers, PLET's, PLEM's, and manifolds. You will also create and modify drawing deliverables for the purposes of concept, FEED, and detailed design as required by the project(s). Effectively planning and executing required drafting support for assigned projects is crucial, as is engaging with project personnel to deliver drawings on schedule and within the defined budget. You will maintain status awareness of project drawings and coordinate delivery with other disciplines within the design team. Participation in project and discipline meetings and workshops is expected, along with providing input to continuous improvement initiatives. Utilizing proper CADD data management practices per company processes and procedures is essential, as is sharing lessons learned with design and project teams.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Design Technology or Technical Certification in CAD Design/Mechanical Drafting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience with Autodesk Inventor, version 2018 or newer.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience with AutoCAD, version 2016 or newer.
  • At least 3 years of structural/mechanical drafting experience, ideally in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Working knowledge of and use of NAVISWORKS Manage or Freedom.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to engage with a variety of teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and requiring minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or in teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and solve challenging problems.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, TEAMS).
  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
