About the position

The Application Quality Assurance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of online web applications and websites at Florida International University. This position involves evaluating, documenting, and testing applications to identify and resolve any bugs or issues before they go live. The assistant collaborates with various teams to maintain high standards for new and updated features, contributing to a seamless user experience for students and faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with system users to understand the scope of projects.
  • Reviews and analyzes system specifications.
  • Collaborates with team to develop effective quality assurance strategies, test plans, and test cases.
  • Documents and executes test cases (manual or automated) and analyzes results.
  • Evaluates software features and functionality according to specifications.
  • Creates logs to document and catalog testing phases and defects.
  • Reports bugs and errors to team.
  • Helps troubleshoot issues.
  • Conducts post-release / post-implementation testing.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with internal staff and third-party companies to test and evaluate web applications, websites, and software.
  • Assists staff, faculty and students in resolving basic technical issues related to SSD managed applications, websites, and software.
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems that may prevent or hinder access to courses and websites; tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Responds quickly, competently, and courteously to a myriad of inquiries in person, by telephone, and email.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
