About the position

The Student Assistant - Faculty Research at Georgia College & State University (GCSU) plays a vital role in supporting faculty and administrative staff through various clerical and interpersonal tasks. This position is designed for undergraduate students who are enrolled in at least six credit hours at GCSU and have completed one year of advanced literary training in the English Department. The assistant will engage closely with faculty members, providing assistance in advanced literary research and other academic tasks as directed. This role emphasizes the importance of effective customer service, professionalism, and dependability, as the assistant will interact with a diverse range of individuals within the university community. In this position, the student assistant will be expected to demonstrate strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. The role requires a proactive approach, allowing the assistant to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision. The assistant will also be responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading documents at a professional level, utilizing advanced research skills to support faculty projects. Additionally, the assistant will participate in bi-weekly remote meetings to discuss progress and receive guidance from faculty members. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be a student enrolled in at least six credit hours as an undergraduate student at Georgia College & State University.
  • Must have completed one year of advanced literary training in the GCSU English Department.
  • Must have taken Critical Theory course.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and dependability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse constituency.
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
