About the position

The Student Assistant position at Career Services is designed for individuals passionate about serving others and eager to enhance their organizational and customer service skills. This role involves being the first point of contact for visitors, including students, alumni, faculty, and staff, while supporting various projects and tasks within the office. The position offers an opportunity to expand one's network and positively impact the Northern Kentucky University (NKU) community.

Responsibilities

• Support the day to day operations of the Career Services office and First-Year Student Success Hub.
• Schedule appointments for students using department scheduling systems.
• Greet students and other visitors at our front desk.
• Hone customer service skills by answering various questions and making referrals.
• Monitor study table area for Pathfinder students.
• Manage schedules, respond to emails, enter data, post jobs, and more using Microsoft Office.
• Provide clerical support as needed to the Advising Team and Administrative Staff.
• Assist with Career Services events including Career Fairs and workshops.
• Make new connections with various campus partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Desire to assist students.
• Ability to work independently.
• Customer service orientation.
• Ability to exercise good judgement and follow department rules.
• Willingness to take direction from student supervisor.
• Must have and maintain a 2.75 GPA or above.
• Ability to adapt to technology.
• Must be able to commit to a full academic year in the position.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
