About the position

The San Diego County Office of Education is seeking a part-time Student Attendant for the South County SELPA Department. This role involves caring for children and young adults with severe physical and/or intellectual disabilities, providing clerical and instructional support to special education teachers, and performing maintenance and custodial duties to meet the needs of students. The position is based at Davila Day School, which serves preschool through eighth-grade students in Chula Vista, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Care for children and young adults with severe physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
  • Provide clerical and instructional assistance to special education teachers.
  • Perform maintenance and custodial duties to meet the needs of students, including feeding, dressing, toileting, and movement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of at least 48 semester units at an institution of higher education, or an associate's degree, or successful completion of an assessment in basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
  • Valid Food Handlers Card issued by the San Diego County Department of Health Services within 30 days of appointment.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificate at the time of appointment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
