About the position

The Student Center Accounts Specialist at Rice University is responsible for providing financial and data analysis support to the Student Center team. This role involves monitoring and reporting on budgets, managing purchasing card reconciliations, and analyzing policies related to student purchasing card usage. The specialist will also assist in evaluating Student Center assessments and club data, process reimbursements, and create budget documents for the director. The position is hybrid, allowing for both in-office and remote work, and requires strong financial skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and create reports around the Student Center and club budgets.
  • Manage club purchasing card reconciliations.
  • Analyze and recommend solutions for policies and procedures related to student purchasing card usage.
  • Assist with evaluating and synthesizing Student Center assessment and club data.
  • Process reimbursements and check requests.
  • Create monthly budget documents for the director.
  • Support club financial documentation.
  • Perform structured analysis for Student Center and club accounts.
  • Conduct data mining and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and validate financial data sets and accounts.
  • Run and analyze financial reports and assist in management information report preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years experience in financial processing, accounting, or reconciliation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Advanced communication skills for preparing materials and communicating information.
  • User knowledge of financial systems, including expense processing and budget reconciliation.
  • Understanding of basic accounting skills and concepts.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Basic project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial processing systems like ImagineOne or Oracle.
