About the position

The Student-Centered DEIB Program & Events Coordinator is responsible for fostering an engaged student community within the law school by managing programming and events focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives. This role involves collaboration with student organizations, planning events that enhance the academic and social experiences of students, and ensuring a sense of inclusion and belonging across the campus. The coordinator will work closely with various university departments and report to the Assistant Dean of Student and Career Services.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate extensive programming and events for the law school's Student and Career Services office.
  • Support Registered Student Organizations in planning and executing events effectively.
  • Focus on increasing inclusion and belonging in law school and equipping students for success in the practice of law.
  • Coordinate events and programming related to DEIB initiatives, including Heritage Month programming.
  • Lead the planning team for major student-centered events such as Orientation and Graduation.
  • Manage paid student workers and outside vendors for events.
  • Develop event attendance goals and compile reports on results.
  • Gather feedback from students to improve programming and events.
  • Ensure programs and events are executed within budget and deadlines.
  • Oversee volunteer and student support for events.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department on promotional materials for events.
  • Maintain social media platforms for the Student and Career Services Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years' experience in events management, student services, or related work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four (4) years of experience in events management or student services.
  • Experience in program and events management for a university, preferably a law school.
  • Experience with graphic design software and digital marketing.
  • High comfort level with digital marketing and communication platforms.
  • Outstanding verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Resourcefulness in problem-solving and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take necessary action.
  • Flexibility in working independently and collaboratively.
  • Initiative to organize and follow through with complex tasks.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion.
