About the position

The Student Communications Coordinator at the University of Maryland Global Campus plays a vital role in enhancing the student communications experience. This part-time position involves the development, review, and alignment of multi-channel communications, ensuring consistent messaging across various platforms such as email, text messaging, and classroom announcements. The Coordinator will also support governance processes and assist in updating communications throughout the student journey.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and re-envision communications based on team and internal client requests.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables in content creation.
  • Follow established governance processes and participate in requirements gathering sessions.
  • Conduct A/B testing and validation of communications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of communications.
  • Partner with colleagues to align communications with the overall student communication strategy.
  • Build, test, and execute email and SMS campaigns, focusing on hyper-personalization strategies.
  • Load call campaigns in Salesforce and collaborate with the Office of Student Success.
  • Post blog articles and promote them across channels to increase student awareness.
  • Consolidate relevant messaging to develop effective communication solutions and prevent redundancy.
  • Assist in conducting research, pulling campaign lists, and completing data lookups.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Minimum of one year of multi-channel communications experience, including mass email and text message creation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for crafting and editing student messaging.
  • Understanding of student communications principles, including copy positioning, audience targeting, and channel strategy.
  • Interest in exploring new, creative ways to engage students.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel), along with reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Tableau.
