The Student Desktop Technician supports the Department by assisting staff and faculty with their technology questions and problems. This role involves providing hardware and software support, as well as the installation and configuration of various equipment. The technician will assist with the physical installation and configuration of equipment, maintain technology in conference rooms and classrooms, and ensure the upkeep of computers, monitors, printers, projectors, and other related devices. The position requires flexibility in hours, which will vary depending on the candidate's availability and the workload of the department. The ideal candidate is expected to work around 20 hours a week, with a schedule that ranges from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM. Candidates must be current students at Franklin University and possess excellent customer service skills. They should be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude and a willingness to embrace change are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The technician should be process-oriented with strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and listening abilities. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary, along with the capability to work with a diverse population while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required, and candidates should be able to lift up to 60 pounds, which includes desktops, monitors, printers, and scanners. Previous technology support experience is preferred, along with familiarity with supporting web browsers, anti-virus software, basic wireless troubleshooting, Windows operating systems, and PC hardware.
