About the position

The Student Employee position at the Art and Photo Resource Center is designed for current Lansing Community College (LCC) students who are looking to gain valuable job skills and experience while attending classes. This part-time role, with a maximum of 25 hours per week, offers students the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that supports the Communication, Media, and Arts (CMA) division. The primary responsibilities include assisting with the use of CMA classrooms and their resource materials, providing quality customer service to students and patrons, and monitoring equipment checkouts while maintaining accurate records. In this role, student employees will be expected to ensure that all CMA classrooms are kept in neat order and that all equipment is clean and functioning properly. Training will be provided on computer classroom procedures, including the proper handling and maintenance of camera equipment, computers, and their peripherals. Additionally, student employees will assist with various clerical functions and general office duties as directed by their supervisors. Regular on-campus presence is required, and while flexible work schedules may be accommodated, they are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. This position is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their professional skills in a supportive environment while contributing to the educational mission of Lansing Community College. Responsibilities

  • Assist with the use of Communication, Media and the Arts (CMA) classrooms and their resource materials.
  • Provide quality, efficient customer service to students and customers.
  • Monitor equipment checkout and maintain related record keeping.
  • Ensure CMA classrooms are in neat order and that all equipment is clean and in working order.
  • Implement computer classroom procedures training in the proper handling and maintenance of camera equipment, computers, and their peripherals.
  • Assist with various clerical functions and other general office duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled and actively attending a minimum of 6.0 LCC credit hours for Fall and/or Spring semesters or 3.0 credit hours for Summer semester.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00, unless it's the student's first semester or a waiver is granted.
  • International students must meet specific enrollment requirements to maintain employment eligibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3.0 GPA

  • Demonstrated timely completion of projects and tasks
  • Familiarity with department's computer classroom procedures
  • Experience and/or knowledge with computers (Windows & Mac OS)
  • Knowledge in computer graphics, web development, animation, photography, and/or video production.
