About the position

The Video Editor position at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) is a part-time role designed for students who are passionate about video production and editing. The primary responsibility of the Video Editor is to transform raw footage into a polished final product that aligns with the creative vision of the team. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including filmmakers and producers, to ensure that all video content meets quality standards and is delivered on time. The Video Editor will also work closely with the Graphic Designer to create motion graphics and thumbnails for the KSHU7 website and YouTube channel. In addition to editing, the Video Editor will be responsible for media ingestion, which includes uploading media to online cloud storage systems and transcoding footage into editable formats such as ProRes or Proxies. Maintaining organization of editing projects and managing media assets is crucial for the success of this role. The Video Editor will edit video content for assigned projects, ensuring smooth cuts and transitions, syncing sound, applying visual effects, and color correcting footage. This position is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience in video production while contributing to the university's media initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Piece together raw footage into a finished product.
• Upload media to online cloud storage systems.
• Transcode footage into editable formats such as ProRes or Proxies.
• Manage media assets and maintain organization of editing projects.
• Edit video content for assigned projects, ensuring smooth cuts and transitions.
• Sync sound, apply visual effects, and color correct footage.

• Ensure all content meets quality standards and deadlines.
• Cooperate with Graphic Designer for motion graphics or thumbnails for KSHU7 website or YouTube.

Requirements

• Must be a student enrolled at Sam Houston State University.
• Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with motion graphics software (e.g., After Effects).
