About the position

The Operations Coordinator for the Office of Student Financial Services at Roberts Wesleyan University plays a crucial role in managing various financial aid programs, including the New York State Tuition Assistance Program and private loan processing. This position involves ensuring regulatory compliance, processing tax forms, and maintaining accurate records to support the financial needs of students. The coordinator will work closely with the Senior Operations Coordinator and other departments to facilitate smooth operations and contribute to the overall success of the Student Financial Services office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and other state grants, ensuring fiscal accountability and maintaining necessary records.
  • Assist in processing disbursements for financial aid and manage federal student loan processing, including defaults and audits.
  • Certify private loans for students, ensuring eligibility and compliance with the Cost of Attendance.
  • Process 1098T and TL11A tax documents, maintaining communication with students and adhering to deadlines.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policy and procedure manuals, staying current on federal regulations, and ensuring effective operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent computer abilities, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience with financial aid processes and PowerFAIDS software preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial software.
